I am a retired middle school teacher in Botetourt County Virginia and presently work part time at the Bank of Fincastle as a data analyist.  Our small farm is approx. 4.4 acres with over half of it in pasture for our 14 sheep.  The general rule for pasture is 4 sheep per acre but this may vary depending on condition of the land and the breed of sheep.  Our pasture is well fenced, open and in good condition plus the Katahdin hairsheep breed require less area for food than many of the larger breeds.  We also have a garden which provides an ample amount of food for canning and freezing.  I enjoy growing heirloom and less known varieties of different vegetables and fruit but modern types make up the majority of the garden, especially in the corn area.  

  In the past few years I have spent considerable time playing my guitars.  My favorite is a Martin D-42 which I purchased on Ebay in mint condition for considerably less than retail price. I also have an Martin HD-28, D-18 Golen Era, and a BlueRidge Carter Stanley Memorial model which receives most attention in public performances even if it was made in China.  All are great guitars.  I play mostly old time country music and of course sing along.  We spend lots of time in Floyd County on Friday nites at the Floyd County Country Store dancing away to old time bands playing great flat footing music.  It's become the culture center of Virginia.  Check out its web site below for great info.  www.floydcountrystore.com
